Cumberland Bird of Prey Centre

The Cumberland Bird of Prey Centre, situated at Thurstonfield, near Carlisle, provides falconry and hawking courses, activities, corporate events, shows and displays.

Cumberland Bird of Prey Centre

The Centre, which is set in three acres of beautiful wooded grounds, houses hawks, falcons, owls, vultures, and buzzards.

Cumberland Bird of Prey CentreDaily demonstrations consist of flying displays and talks about the birds, including information about their habitat, conservation, lifestyle, and training.

Hawking days are offered between the middle of December to the middle of March. The centre also offers less expensive Hawk walks, which last for about an hour, visitors get to fly and recall one of the Harris hawks.

The centre runs activity days throughout the year, these include flying and handling as many of the birds housed at the centre as possible.

There are five day courses available that cover all aspects of keeping, and flying a Harris hawk.

Visits by prior appointment only.
